That feeling of Mmmmmmm !!!!!!!! and an almost irresistible urge to walk up to a complete stranger and rub the corner of his/her sweater between your thumb and your index finger. Your total failure to notice a handsome man walking down the street beside you because you are too busy taking in the stitch structures and colour nuances of his sweater. It is that feeling of Mmmmmmm!!!!! that SORCHA continues to nurture in her collections each season, embracing luxury, elegance and practicality.

Sorcha Holohan graduated from Limerick School of Art and Design in 1991, winning the Society of Designers in Ireland Graduate Designer Award and also the then Irish Goods Council's Fashion Design Graduate of the Year. These two merits led immediately to a period of study at the Parsons School of Fashion Design in Paris and afterwards to employment at the Ted Lapidu studios.

Knitwear has always been Sorcha's most favoured medium and it was in order to pursue this preference that she accepted a position at Blarney Woollen Mills, Ireland. The project was a new range of men's knitwear with a contemporary design slant. Designing for this forward looking range was a very successful learning process for Sorcha, both in terms of design and production management; skills which she later utilised to maximum effect with her own line.

1994 saw the successful introduction of the SORCHA label to the ladieswear market place. Luxury knits with an entirely contemporary and versatile ethos made their way into the wardrobes of Irish women. The SORCHA label combines an American design philosophy with the luxurious yarns of Italian and Spanish origin together with the world-renowned tradition of Irish knitwear. This philosophy continues to be SORCHA's winning style right up to 2001, twelve seasons later.
